Rainforests also affect local weather conditions by creating rainfall and moderating temperatures. Everything Sanjayan has learned about the value of the forests is being put to the test back in the “Intangible Zone." There is a growing need to be able to identify a degraded forest from stand scales to landscape and national scales to inform decision making about where to invest in forest recovery (e.g., Holl and Aide 2011). Hotspots of deforestation are also found around transport networks and close to cities, including areas suitable for agriculture within 5 h travel time to major markets, and wood fuel and charcoal provisioning within 12 h from a city.

Forest - is a large area of land covered with trees. All you have to do is place a 4-inch-by-4-inch wood or plastic post in the ground, with the top at chest-height. To protect these rainforests, and to ensure that they are preserved for future generations, they were placed on the World Heritage list in 1988. Pitcher plants {far right, top) also climb by having "whips" on the ends of their new leaves, which swell into pitchers as the leaf develops.
